The story is very simple and not new but the way Ameer Sultan had handled the script is terrific. We can see how much this movie had inspired the current trend even in characterization of the heroes. And the current (2011) trend of village based bold movies all started with ‘Paruthiveeran’. Karthi as Paruthiveeran is striking and he never look like a new comer. Ameer has brought breathing rural unfussiness and involvedness in front of us. Listening to the songs will give a clue to the climax, explains well what the ending is about. The tragic mood of the movie is present right from the starting frame. A village tough finally succumbs to the unconditional love of his angelic cousin, but his romance faces insurmountable challenges, including family opposition and his own delinquent personality.
